Ghana’s new, dynamic vintage-inspired highlife, funk & Afrobeat band, Santrofi is without doubt admired for its visionary clarity as well as the transforming beauty and force of its music.

Santrofi” – A name originated from Ghanaian mythology related to a four-winged, brightly colored, precious bird, forms a 9-piece young all star band with gifted musicians fronted by vocalist, bassist and founding leader; Emmanuel Ofori, known for his work with Highlife legend, Ebo Taylor and Pat ThomasKwashibu Area Band.

Backed by a seven-piece band consisting of Robert Koomson (a.k.a Nsoroma) – lead vocals, talking drum, guitar; Bernard Gyamfi on trombone and shekere; Norbert Wonkyi on trumpet, flugelhorn and bell; Prince Larbi on drums and vocals; Emmanuel Boakye Agyeman on keyboards and vocals; and Emmanuel Blankson on percussion.

The young Accra-based outfit over the years played their first European tour across festivals as Roskilde, Sines, Womad, Fusion among others, where they left both the promoters and the public in awe, naming this band as their highlight of the festivals.

Santrofi makes up a new highlife powerhouse consisting of outstanding talent, playing this beautiful up-tempo and guitar-driven style, which was created in the early 20th century.

Undisputedly declared as the game changer in the Ghanaian Highlife music genre, Santrofi is currently on tour performing in over 40 shows at major festivals and concerts in Europe.

The band in July 2020 topped World Music Charts Europe with their debut album “Alewa” which brought a new wave of fresh highlife rooted in the past with a knowledge of the future directly from the streets of Accra.
