The Recording Academy, famous for its Grammy Awards, has sent out invitations to music professionals from wide-ranging backgrounds to be part of the Academy’s membership.

Among the people invited was Ghana’s very own Afro-pop singer and songwriter, Noella Wiyaala, professionally known as Wiyaala.

The award winning singer who sings both in English and her native language of Sissala and Waala dialects, joins over 2,700+ music professionals in the 2022 member class, Music’s Bold New Generation, of the GRAMMYs.

Taking to her verified Twitter account to share the exciting news, Wiyaala thanked the Recording Academy for recognizing her hard work and making her a member of the prestigious award scheme.

Wiyaala’s membership invitation means the singer gets to vote in the process as well as have an impact on other areas of the music industry.
As a member, she is able to;

Submit projects for GRAMMY consideration

Vote in the process (Voting level members only)

Advocate for music rights.

Assist with music education programs and career development

Be involved with MusiCares & the Healthy Essentials workshops that guide music people through issues involving dental, vision, hearing and more.

Receive discounts on gear, conferences, festivals and more.

However, those invited by the Recording Academy have until July 12 to accept their invitations if they are to vote for the 65th annual Grammy Awards, according to a report by Billboard.

Wiyaala, who is famously known for her bold, powerful voice and distinguished timbre with elements of tribal folk music, joins Reggae/Dancehall artiste, Stonebwoy and Grammy nominee, Samuel ‘Blitz’ Bazawule as members of the Academy from Ghana, having received their invitations in 2021.
